This webinar will discuss the application and enforcement of EU law and principles in the field of LGBTI rights. It will also explore what the European Commission and the other various EU institutions can do to ensure the enforcement of EU law and to make sure Member States comply. In the LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020-2025, the European Commission announced that it would continue to enforce legal protection against discrimination, including by reporting on the application of the Employment Equality Directive in 2021. Over the past years, it has been especially citizens that have enforced the application of LGBTI rights through litigation. This webinar will therefore explore how public and private enforcement of LGBTI rights can be ensured.
