This webinar will discuss the rights of rainbow families in cross-border movement within the European Union. Rainbow families face many difficulties when moving to another Member State. Due to differences in family law across Member States, family ties may cease to be recognised when rainbow families cross the EU’s internal borders. Family law is a Member State competence except when it concerns measures concerning family law ‘having cross-border implications’. The European Commission announced the review of the freedom of movement guidelines and a new legislative proposal for 2022. In this webinar, Renew Europe will discuss possible solutions to improve the rights of rainbow families crossing European borders.
