The coordinator of the Renew Europe delegation on the European Parliament's Transport Committee, MEP José Ramón Bauzá (Ciudadanos, ES), has today stressed that the upcoming hearing of the Romanian MEP Rovana Plumb, the Romanian Government's nominee for the European Commission, will determine whether Renew Europe can support the candidate's nomination.

José Ramón Bauzá MEP recalls that they promised voters that would come to the European Parliament to renew Europe, and in that sense, aspire to have a fully qualified college of Commissioners:

Integrity and excellence should guide not only our actions, but also those who have the honour of leading the European institutions. Rovana Plumb has allegedly been implicated in several cases of corruption in Romania, cases that due to parliamentary immunity have not been investigated by the courts. We hope that the appearance of the candidate before the European Parliament will serve to clear up any shadow of corruption.”
