Renew Europe calls for an ambitious EU – Africa partnership

Today, Renew Europe has hosted a high-level conference dedicated to EU - Africa relations. Renew Europe is convinced that the EU and Africa must engage a constructive dialogue at all levels. The President of the Republic of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan and the former Foreign Affairs Minister in the Government of Belgium and former EU Commissioner Louis Michel, who opened the conference, pushed for an ambitious partnership between the two continents.

"We need to continue to work with Africa. How to work efficiently with a strategy for a new partnership between Europe and Africa is not just a symbol. Africa is a high-quality and equal partner with strong historical connections", said Dacian Cioloş, President of Renew Europe group.

"We must draw the lessons of the pandemic and put human development at the heart of our Partnership with Africa starting with health. The strengthening of health systems and universal coverage must be the priorities", declared Chrysoula Zacharopoulou (LREM, Renew Europe) who lead an important report on the new EU - Africa strategy.
