The Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament welcomes today’s inter-institutional agreement on the 2030 Digital Decade Policy Programme (DDPP), introducing a sound cooperation and monitoring mechanism at EU level to ensure that ambitious digital targets are achieved across all the EU Member States by 2030. Moreover, it aims to reinforce the Union’s digital leadership, and promote human-centred, inclusive, sustainable digital policies, empowering citizens and businesses.

This Renew Europe-led policy programme, with MEP Martina Dlabajová as the rapporteur, will establish a reporting on digital targets, based on a structured, transparent, data-based monitoring system and will foster joint actions among Member State to accelerate progress in key fields. Likewise, our political Group has advocated for a cooperation mechanism between European countries in key areas such as, Gigabit connectivity, digital skills, data infrastructures, high-performance computing, and digitalisation of businesses and public services, among others, that will allow us to move towards a true European open digital strategic autonomy.

MEP Martina Dlabajová (ANO 2011, Czech Republic), Rapporteur on DDPP, stated:

"The agreement reached sets the right conditions to bring a real impulse to digitalisation in the EU by 2030. As the Union, we have no time and no resources to waste. The Digital Decade Policy Programme brings a comprehensive approach to the many actions we have been taking already during this mandate and more importantly sets clear quantitative goals to build synergies across EU Programmes and among Member States. The Multi-Country Projects will be a key instrument to advance digital leadership from the EU to the global stage."

Renew Europe has been a leading voice in the European debate to drive the digital competitiveness of the EU, grasping the potential of the digital age, as well as harnessing technology and innovation in the interest of European citizens and SMEs.
