Empowering youth through strengthened Youth Guarantee
Under the leadership of Renew Europe’s Hristo Petrov, the European Parliament adopted on Tuesday much needed recommendations to strengthen the Youth Guarantee and make it more effective for young people furthest from the labour market.
The evaluation of the Reinforced Youth Guarantee highlights significant progress, while pointing to its structural bottlenecks in outreach, coverage and on the quality and sustainability of offers. It is recommended to turn this instrument from a broad employment support scheme into a precision instrument by delivering personalized, inclusive, and locally tailored support to young people who are not in employment, education, or training.
Job offers, apprenticeships, traineeships, and education should be better matched to individual needs and complemented by other opportunities such as entrepreneurship and integration pathways based on volunteering and skills recognition, to bring a more holistic approach to youth employment and labour market integration.
This initiative reaffirms Renew Europe’s and the Parliament’s commitment to deliver tangible results for young people, by building a resilient, inclusive, and dynamic future for all young Europeans. Investing in young peoples’ transition to employment do not only strengthen their career paths, but also provide a strategic response to Europe’s competitiveness by addressing pressing labour shortages.
