Renew in Paris - The Renew Europe Group will travel to Paris on 8 and 9 September for a first working group meeting after summer to prepare Renew Europe key topics ahead of the State of the Union. Members of the group will also meet at the sidelines of their working session with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, for an exchange of views on the key European and global issues on the agenda.
Ventotene Conference - Valérie Hayer, president of the Renew Europe group, will take part in the II Ventotene Conference for Freedom and Democracy (10-12 September 2026), speaking on Thursday 10 September in the session on “making Europe win against global techno-sovereignism”, alongside Renew MEP Pina Picierno, vice-president of the European Parliament.”
Ventotene holds a founding place in the history of Italian liberal and centrist thought. It was on this island, during his internment under fascism, that Altiero Spinelli co-authored the 1941 manifesto "Per un'Europa libera e unita" - later known as the Ventotene Manifesto - which laid the intellectual foundations of European federalism.
Renew President Valérie Hayer's presence at this year's conference carries a simple political signal. The leader of the Renew group in the European Parliament sends an encouraging message towards the common aspirations of Italy's pro-European and liberal forces, echoing the same ambition that Spinelli set out more than eighty years earlier.
One Rulebook for EU Public Procurement - Public procurements make up between 14 and 16% of the EU’s GDP. They are regulated via directives for now, which means that each member state adds its own layer of national rules. Renew Commissioner Stéphane Sejourné has set to make them all one regulation, so public procurements are simpler to use and the same for every companies all around Europe. He’s also set to insert criterias so public procurement money helps deliver on European goals and priorities. And he’s introducing a preference to European goods and services in targeted strategic sectors. Renew supports those changes. Our point person will be MEP Jeanette Baljeu.
Montenegro, the path to the EU - Press breakfast with Renew MEP Marjan Šarec and the Minister of European Affairs of Montenegro. EU Parliament's standing rapporteur for Montenegro, MEP Marjan Šarec, and Montenegro's Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević will hold a press breakfast to discuss Montenegro's progress toward EU membership, the state of accession talks, and next steps. The event comes as Montenegro accelerates negotiations, offering perspectives from both the candidate country and the EU side.
