One in three internet users in Europe is a child (persons younger than 18years old), spending on average 6,5hours online daily. But while the internetoffers children endless opportunities to study, shop and meet online, it wasnever designed with children in mind, leaving children vulnerabletoa rangeof issues, including sexual abuse, privacy infringementsand commercialtargeting. Renew Europe calls upon EU policy makers to take the interestsof children into account from the start of EU law-making, to ensure childrencan enjoy the digital world in a safe way. Renew Europe calls on theCommission to includethe following recommendations in itsworkprogramme andfuture legislation.
