Polish visa landscape

The Renew Europe group is appalled by reports that Polish government consulates have issued visas to third country nationals in exchange for bribes, constituting an unprecedented corruption scandal at the highest level of government. The unauthorised sale of Schengen visas jeopardises the safety of all European citizens. Action must be taken and the truth uncovered. The Renew Europe group has today tabled a request for an urgent debate in the European Parliament, with the participation of the European Commission. Anyone proven to have sold illegal visas must be held responsible.

Róża Thun und Hohenstein (Polska 2050, Poland), said:

"The Polish Government's scandalous alleged sale of Schengen visas undermines common European security, our values and free movement within the EU. We have today tabled a request for an urgent debate in the European Parliament, with the attendance of the European Commission. The Polish Government has serious questions to answer, to all Europeans - including its own citizens - in the Schengen area.”
