Renew Europe presents its ambitious and positive plan to make life simpler for European citizens. The proposal, “Simplifying citizens’ lives”, lays out concrete measures:
From recognition of diplomas to access to healthcare abroad, from easier cross-border travel to seamless digital identification, Renew Europe’s initiative brings together one guiding principle: Europe must be useful, practical, and close to citizens’ real needs.
Valérie Hayer, President of Renew Europe:
“Europe is not a burden, it is a promise of freedom and opportunity. Our task is to make this promise tangible — by removing the barriers that frustrate citizens in their daily lives. Every form simplified, every rule clarified, every procedure digitalised brings Europe closer to its people. This counts for us."
Renew Europe stands for a positive, forward-looking agenda. The Renew proposal covers a wide range of areas where citizens feel the EU most directly:
Simpler mobility and residence:
A single online registration system and standardised forms for all EU countries.
Easier cross-border healthcare and education:
Digital medical records available across Member States and automatic recognition of diplomas.
Freedom to work and bank anywhere in Europe:
The EU Digital Identity Wallet enabling job applications and bank account openings in any country.
Easy online privacy setting:
One click for all. A single choice of cookies and privacy preferences in the Internet browser makes cookie choices user friendly
Smarter travel and connectivity:
One EU-wide platform for transport tickets and complaints, transparent airfare pricing, and compatible charging stations for electric vehicles.
Less bureaucracy, more clarity:
Unified environmental labelling, fully digital public services, and a single EU portal explaining citizens’ rights.
Morten Løkkegard, Chair of Renew Europe task force for simplification:
"Making life simpler for European citizens is not just a nice-to-have – it’s a necessity if we want people to feel that the EU works for them. Cutting unnecessary bureaucracy and creating smarter, digital solutions. It is about rebuilding trust and showing that Europe can deliver concrete results in people’s everyday lives."
Through this initiative, Renew Europe continues to shape a citizen-first European Union that focuses on what truly improves people’s lives: mobility, opportunity, security, and fairness. Simplifying Europe means making it work — every day, for everyone.
