On the occasion of the debate on the French Presidency of the Council of the EU in Strasbourg, where President Emmanuel Macron was present to outline the French priorities, the President of Renew Europe, Stéphane Séjourné, has outlined his vision for the new and bold opportunity to renew and reform the EU for its citizens.
The French Presidency, combined with a new agreement between the three largest groups in the Parliament on a series of tangible reforms until 2024, offers a unique prospect to deliver real change for EU citizens. The division between those who wish to sit on the sidelines, while a stronger EU is constructed, and those who take their responsibility for future generations becomes starker.
Renew Europe today repeated its proposal for a Simone Veil Pact to expand women’s rights across the Union and also proposes, in the European Year of Youth, the creation of an EU - wide platform help each young person find a job, training or an internship.
Stéphane Séjourné, President of Renew Europe, said:
"The French Presidency and the new agreement on political priorities in the European Parliament can usher in a bold new renaissance for all EU citizens. The planets are aligned. The will is there. The course is clear. Let the liars and cynics bray. They cling to the status quo. We are building the future."
"Law by law, project by project, reform by reform, we will fight for a green, free, proud and fully sovereign Europe. The French Presidency is a key moment and our group will be there. We have everything to succeed. With one watchword: Boldness, and again boldness, and always boldness!"
