Today’s historic adoption of the report on amending the EU treaties is a major step forward.Following the unique and unprecedented Conference on the Future of Europe, initiated by our political family, Renew Europe celebrates the adoption of a demand for treaty change, in keeping with the wishes of citizens. The Council can no longer ignore the European Parliament’s request and hide behind false excuses to delay a necessary decision.
We call on EU Member States to act on the Parliament’s demand during the European Council in December, as confirmed by the Spanish Presidency in the plenary debate. Our European Union has to be fit for the future challenges it will face.
